Job description

SUMMARY

Ensures the safety and security of the business premises by performing good working knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a business environment, and enforcement procedures by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Monitors video cameras and phones

Directs incoming and outgoing traffic

Directs applicants, visitors, contractors and sales representatives to proper locations and work areas

Assists police, fire and ambulance personnel when necessary

Monitors scanner and TV during bad weather and on other occasions (ex. snow, thunderstorms, tornado, earthquakes, etc.)

Sounds tornado alarm if needed

Prepares security badges for employees

Takes orders for employee uniform items

Checks removal passes for employees who remove company property

Checks all buildings for water, oil and other leaks or hazards when plant is shut down and on weekends

Provides first-aid when necessary

Calls police, fire and/or ambulance when necessary

Calls snow removal service when necessary

Makes reports of accidents and incidents on company property

Forwards e-mail and faxes to proper recipients in a timely manner

Follows all company procedures/policies/rules

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and one to three months related experience and/or training preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Knowledge in Microsoft Outlook requested.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
