Job description

Position: Part-Time Network Engineer - Cisco & Aruba
Department: Information Technology
FLSA Grade: Part-Time, Hourly (Non-Exempt)
Salary: $65.00 - $75.00 per hour
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Network Engineer to manage, maintain, and support our Cisco network infrastructure and Aruba wireless environment. This position will work no more than 25 hours per week and will be responsible for maintaining network reliability, security, performance, and configuration backups.
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with enterprise Cisco networking and Aruba wireless technologies. Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification is preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Manage, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco network devices, including routers, switches, and related network infrastructure.
  • Manage and support Aruba wireless devices and infrastructure, including wireless access points, controllers, and associated configurations.
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and overall health.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity, performance, routing, switching, VLAN, and wireless issues.
  • Perform configuration changes, firmware/software upgrades, and routine network maintenance as required.
  • Maintain regular backups of Cisco and Aruba device configurations.
  • Verify that network configuration backups are current, complete, and recoverable.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of network configurations, topology, IP addressing, VLANs, wireless infrastructure, and significant changes.
  • Assist with network security, access control, and implementation of networking best practices.
  • Respond to network outages and other infrastructure issues as needed.
  • Coordinate network changes and maintenance activities with the IT team.
  • Provide recommendations for network improvements, upgrades, reliability, and capacity planning.

Qualifications
  • Extensive experience administering and troubleshooting Cisco enterprise networking equipment.
  • Strong experience supporting Aruba wireless networking technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, spanning tree, DHCP, DNS, VPNs, wireless networking, and network security.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining automated or scheduled network configuration backups.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and document network changes accurately.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • CCIE certification preferred.
  • CCNP or equivalent advanced Cisco networking experience strongly desired.
  • Aruba networking/wireless certifications are a plus.

Schedule
  • Part-time position
  • Maximum of 25 hours per week
  • Work schedule may be coordinated based on operational requirements.
  • Some after-hours availability may be required for scheduled network maintenance or critical network issues.
