Job description

Part-Time Faculty - Maritime (Firefighter/EMT)
Teaching both credit and non-credit USCG approved courses.
Applications for part-time faculty positions are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed if openings become available. These positions are not current vacancies. Instructors employed as part-time faculty are not entitled to all the rights, privileges, and benefits of regular, full-time employees. Part-time faculty are hired on an "as needed" basis and will work for the duration of time specified by the respective course. A portion of teaching assignment may be evening classes and possibly weekend classes. Faculty are assigned to teach courses using various delivery methods based on the teaching area and the needs of students and the College, which may require a physical presence at the assigned on-site work location.
Required Qualifications:
  • Must have an associate degree (or higher level degree) or in lieu of degree must have proven, extensive experience in Firefighting/Medical care.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in either Firefighting/Medical Care Professions.
  • Must be in good physical condition and must be a strong swimmer.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of the Firefighting or Medical Care industry, equipment, and related industries.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computing software, be a team player/leader, and place a high priority on student learning.
  • Either hold a Texas Commission on Fire Protection Basic Firefighting I (or above level license) or Texas Certified as an EMT Basic, EMT-Advance, or EMT-Paramedic(or above level license).
  • Must have or qualify for U.S. Coast Guard certification for instruction in a maritime program.
