Job description

Job Purpose:

This position provides coverage, as needed, of wastewater treatment operations to treat and discharge process water in accordance with all regulations and permit conditions.

Pay Range: $29.60-$39.79

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supporting four critical areas (Pollution Control Facility, Tumble Liquids Treatment, Heat Treat Neutralization, and the Oil Recovery Ultra-filtration Area)
  • Operating filter presses and ultra-filtration equipment
  • Replenishing chemicals, handling hazardous waste by-products
  • Maintaining industrial pre-treatment license requirements (i.e. 20 TCH's every two (2) years)
  • Flexible coverage of wastewater operator shifts as needed. Willingness to work 3rd shift strongly preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience, Competencies and Education
    • High School/GED
    • 1 year of experience in wastewater treatment strongly preferred
  • Language Skills
    • Strong command of the English language, both written and verbal communication and interpretation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Occasional: bending, kneeling, squatting, standing, walking, reaching, overhead reaching, and fine motor skills
  • Occasional lifting: 20 to 30 pounds
  • Frequent lifting: 5 to 20 pounds
  • Maximum lifting: to 55 pounds

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

  • Mandatory wearing of certified ANSI approved safety glasses and hearing protection
  • The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department
  • Employees are required to apply ergonomic correctness to all job tasks
  • May be required depending on position:
  • Annual vision update in Medical Department
  • Involvement in the hearing conservation program
  • Involvement in the lead surveillance program
  • Wearing of safety certified shoes/boots
  • Participation in the stretching program

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Within the Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting.
