Job description

Position Information This attorney will primarily review, draft, and negotiate contracts on behalf of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners, other County elected officials, and various County agencies, departments, appointees and employees as assigned. This position will be assigned to the Transactional Group for the County Attorney's Office. Practice areas include local government contracting, procurement, construction, transportation, telecommunications, technology, real property transactions, and intergovernmental agreements.

This position also offers the opportunity to work from home one day per week, after two (2) months of employment

Essential Functions Serves as legal counsel representing the legal interests of the County for assigned departments; provides legal advice to represented clients and other department heads, elected officials and managers as requested or assigned under the direction of the County Attorney. Negotiates, drafts and reviews contracts; analyzes terms and conditions to ensure County's interests are protected against potential liability; resolves contract disputes; reviews contracts for compliance with internal policies and procedures, as well as local, state and federal laws. Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures, including trends and advances in the profession.

Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Juris Doctorate Degree required; plus a minimum of three years' experience in negotiating, drafting, and reviewing contracts, including some experience in local government transactions and contracts. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge and experience in IT contracts, particularly local government IT contracts, including cyber security issues.

Licenses and Certifications Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain certification and licensure from the Georgia Bar Association. Physical Abilities Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).

Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station. Sensory Requirements Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, taste, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
