Join a leading AI lab at the forefront of generative AI innovation and help shape the future of advanced visual intelligence systems. We are seeking experienced professionals in lighting, cinematography, visual effects, and digital content creation to contribute their expertise toward evaluating and improving AI models capable of understanding and relighting visual scenes.

This role is ideal for individuals with deep knowledge of lighting design, image aesthetics, color science, and visual storytelling who can help establish high-quality standards for AI-generated imagery and scene illumination.

This is a part-time position with the opportunity to collaborate closely with world-class AI researchers and engineers developing next-generation visual AI systems.

Requirements

Key ResponsibilitiesEstablish Evaluation Standards
  • Define criteria for assessing scene lighting quality, including physical realism, visual consistency, artistic intent, and emotional impact.
  • Identify gaps in existing evaluation methodologies and recommend improvements.
Curate Benchmark Content
  • Select and analyze examples that demonstrate both straightforward and highly complex lighting scenarios.
  • Help create meaningful benchmarks for evaluating AI-generated lighting and relighting outputs.
Identify Critical Evaluation Factors
  • Determine the most important visual attributes that influence perceived lighting quality and realism.
  • Provide expert guidance on prioritizing evaluation dimensions.
Shape Human Evaluation Processes
  • Help define reviewer qualifications, evaluation rubrics, and assessment frameworks.
  • Ensure evaluation standards align with professional industry expectations.
Collaborate with Research Teams
  • Work closely with AI researchers and domain experts to improve model evaluation approaches.
  • Translate visual and artistic concepts into clear, measurable evaluation criteria.
Required Qualifications
  • 7-10 years of professional experience in the film, visual effects (VFX), animation, virtual production, or video game industries.
  • Demonstrated contributions to at least two professionally released films, television productions, games, or equivalent projects.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Lighting Technical Director (TD)
    • Lighting Artist
    • 3D Lighting Specialist
    • Look Development Artist
    • Director of Photography (DP)
    • Cinematographer
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Light behavior and physics
    • Cinematic lighting techniques
    • Visual storytelling through illumination
    • Color theory and color science
    • Scene composition and mood creation
  • Exceptional attention to visual detail and consistency.
  • Ability to articulate complex visual observations in clear, structured written language.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing visual quality standards or review frameworks.
  • Familiarity with digital content creation tools used in film, VFX, animation, or gaming pipelines.
  • Experience evaluating image quality, rendering fidelity, or visual realism.
  • Interest in AI-generated imagery, computer graphics, and emerging visual technologies.
Location & Collaboration Requirements
  • Ability to attend in-person working sessions in:

  • Availability for on-site collaboration approximately once or twice per month.
