Part Time Virtual Dietitian Jobs (NOW HIRING)

EDCare is seeking a part-time Virtual Registered Dietitian to support patients participating in our Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (VIOP). This is a great “moonlighting” opportunity for an RD looking to supplement their income while maintaining a primary position or other professional commitments.

The position averages approximately 3–8 hours per week (depending on census), with some evening availability required, and offers the flexibility of providing care virtually. The RD works as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team, collaborating with therapists, medical providers, and other clinical professionals to provide comprehensive eating disorder care.

The Virtual RD provides individualized nutrition assessment, counseling, meal planning, and nutrition education while helping patients build a healthier and more sustainable relationship with food. This is an excellent opportunity for an RD who enjoys meaningful clinical work but is looking for a small, flexible weekly commitment that can complement an existing schedule.

Summary of Major Functions:            

Oversee and implement all aspects of nutrition care. Provide nutritional counseling to patients in all clinical programs. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Completes thorough nutritional assessments.
2. Manages scheduling for follow up sessions, holding weekly sessions and completing adjoining charting.
3. Creates an individualized nutrition treatment plan with appropriate goals and objectives.
4. Develops meal plans demonstrating diversity and meeting the nutritional needs of the patient.
5. Demonstrates knowledge of food service regulations and environmental risks while enforcing regulatory requirements.
6. Demonstrates knowledge of and practice of clinical interviewing/counseling skills.
7. Demonstrates ability to build therapeutic rapport.
8. Facilitates educational and nutritional groups with expertise, demonstrating ability to engage, set limits and monitor the group process.
9. Timely completion and accuracy of assigned paperwork: assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, group notes, etc.
10. Provide continuity of care; communicating with outpatient RD’s within 48 hours of patient’s initial assessment, throughout stay as decided between ED Care/Outpatient team, and prior to discharge.
11. Provide culinary coverage as scheduled: planning, preparing, portioning, and serving of meals. Verifying allergens and specific dietary needs.
12. Stays current in expectations and practices guidelines set out by ED Care as they are updated.
13. Provides supervision to dietary interns and utilizes support resources to ensure outstanding quality of dietary services.
14. Providing nutritional outpatient counseling services, balancing time spent in OP with other Job responsibilities, if requested.
15. When treating Outpatients, makes referrals to other providers/resources as indicated, including psychiatrist, individual therapist, Primary Care Provider, family therapist, group etc. Using internal referral form for any in house referrals.
16. Facilitate meal therapy with patients including processing and documentation, if needed.
17. Actively participate in multidisciplinary team, providing input on patient care and attending staffing meetings.
18. Work with Program Director to assess the effectiveness of existing program and provide input.
19. Other job duties as assigned.

Other Responsibilities:

1. Maintain schedule (time off, etc.) that provides appropriate staffing coverage.
2. Demonstrate effective communication by checking and responding to email and calls within a timely manner.
3. Comply with all regulatory and accreditation requirements for the clinical services and food production services. This includes but is not necessarily limited to HIPAA, The Joint Commission and federal, state and/or local health departments.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition required.
2. Registered Dietitian or RD eligible, passing RD exam within 90 days of hire required
3. Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD) in the State of Colorado.
4. Willingness to obtain and maintain licensure in Kansas and Nebraska and additional states as determined.
5. Experience working individually and in groups preferably with eating disordered patients.
6. Clinical conceptualization of the treatment of eating disorders and dual diagnosis preferred.
7. Good oral and written communication skills preferred.

Computer Skills:

1. Must be able to effectively maneuver within an office scheduling system.
2. Minimum of beginner skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Intermediate skills are required with Microsoft Outlook.
3. Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within an electronic medical records system.

Physical Demands and Environment:

Sitting frequently, standing occasionally, walking occasionally, talking frequently, hearing frequently, seeing constantly, reaching with arms and hands occasionally, crouching occasionally and using fingers intricately.  This position requires lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds occasionally and lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds rarely. 

Environmental conditions of this job include but are NOT limited to:

99% inside, 99% normal temperature and 99% normal noise as expected in a medical office environment.
