Summary:
The Switchboard Operator role is responsible for prompt and efficient telephone communications between persons outside and/or within the organization, providing paging announcements by utilizing the public address system, greeting the public and providing patients and visitors with information they request in accordance with established policy guidelines. Functions performed also include managing the paging system, hospital alarm systems, and hospital emergency situations. The Switchboard Operator will work closely with clinical care teams, security, facilities, patients and members of the public. May perform or support additional functions within the Patient Access service line and maintain master directory for the organization.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: N/A
  3. Experience: Related experience, such as customer service or dispatch/switchboard operator, preferred.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: N/A
  5. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Computer and data entry experience is preferred with Microsoft Word, e-mail, and internet communication, as well as the ability to work accurately and effectively with electronic systems.
