Description
To transport veterans to VA Medical Facilities or as directed by supervision. Must be an honorably discharged veteran to be eligible.
Duties
Transport veterans, dependents, and caregivers as needed to the various V. A. Medical Centers for their medical care. Driver must go to the Veterans Service Office to pick-up, and drop-off the Veterans Transportation Log. Driver must phone client to verify appointment and inform them what time they will be picked up for their trip. When client is returned, the gas tank must be filled so the van will be ready for next drivers use. See Van Drivers Rules and responsibilities for more detailed information.
Must possess knowledge of Ohio driving laws and regulations. Be able to exert light to moderate physical effort to assist handicapped veterans. Must be able to read and understand maps, directions, and signs. Must possess good communication, ability to work with others, and be able to work independently. Must have the ability to operate a cell phone.
May be required to perform other duties and responsibilities at the direction the Executive Director/Director.
Qualifications
Must be an honorably discharged veteran and have high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have a valid Ohio driver's license and insurance.
Must have a safe and an offense free driving record for at least one year.
Must be physically capable of handling older, many times handicapped veterans who may need assistance.
