Virginia Western Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System, a statewide system of community colleges. The College operates under the policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Virginia Western Community College Local Advisory Board.
Virginia Western is located on a 70-acre campus in southwest Roanoke, VA. The service region of the College includes Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. The College was established in 1966 and has grown from an initial enrollment of 1,352 to its current annual enrollment of over 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400 enrollments in fast-track workforce and continuing education courses
Virginia Western Community College, located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Roanoke Valley, is accepting applications for daytime Clinical Instructors for our Registered Nursing Program in the School of Health Professions. We have an immediate need for Long Term Care, Pediatric, Mother-baby and Medical/Surgical Clinical Instructors, who would work 9-12 hours either Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
Part-time Clinical Instructors are assigned on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed. Instructors are expected to maintain currency in their nursing practice, teaching disciplines, and in trends in nursing education.

Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Nursing or an Associate's degree in Nursing and currently enrolled in a BSN program. A minimum of two years of experience as a registered nurse (RN) with a strong clinical background is crucial.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
Additional Considerations
Bachelors degree or higher in Nursing is strongly preferred. Prior teaching experience in a pre-licensure RN program is desired. Mother-baby, Medical/Surgical and/or Pediatric clinical experience is strongly preferred, but other areas considered.
