Through our Juvenile Assessment & Crisis Centers, we help youth facing significant challenges -including trauma, mental health concerns, neglect, substance abuse, and family instability- receive the support, assessment, and guidance they need to build a brighter future.
We are seeking a Part-Time Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position works approximately 10 hours per week and offers a flexible schedule. The RN serves a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of youth admitted to the Assessment Center while providing medical consultation and support to program staff.
What You'll Do
- Conduct physical assessments for youth within 24 hours of admission.
- Provide medical consultation and guidance to Assessment Center staff.
- Respond to youth medical needs, including sick calls, routine assessments, and triage of injuries and illnesses.
- Oversee medication administration practices and record-keeping protocols.
- Collaborate with program leadership to review and improve healthcare procedures.
- Serve as a liaison between the Assessment Center and community healthcare providers.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director.
Qualifications
Required:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and at least one (1) year of nursing experience; OR
- Associate Degree in Nursing and at least two (2) years of nursing experience.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to obtain approval under MHC's insurance requirements.

Physical & Employment Requirements
- Negative pre-employment drug screen.
- Successful completion of post-employment physical and TB test.
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift, and perform daily operational tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively with youth, families, colleagues, and community partners.
- Ability to work in environments where exposure to infectious diseases may occur.
