Job description

What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide total, patient-centered perioperative care by applying the nursing process in a systematic and organized manner, in accordance with facility policies and patient safety standards

  • Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, anesthesia providers, and ancillary departments to ensure seamless, well-coordinated care

  • Communicate proactively with the healthcare team regarding changes in patient condition, care plans, patient progress, and discharge needs

  • Demonstrate knowledge of nursing responsibilities related to anesthesia administration and monitoring

  • Respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations, exercising sound clinical judgment

  • Safely transfer patients according to prescribed plans and established protocols

  • Create, maintain, and monitor a sterile surgical field throughout procedures

  • Perform surgical counts in accordance with facility policy and regulatory standards

  • Dispense medications and solutions in compliance with organizational policies

  • Manage and monitor the care of surgical patients before, during, and after procedures

  • Ensure appropriate equipment and supplies are available based on patient and procedural needs

  • Maintain accurate documentation and utilize electronic health record systems effectively

  • Assist with patient flow and room turnover

What You'll Bring

Education

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active and unrestricted New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in the OR

  • Urology experience preferred

  • Scrub experience preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Proficiency with computers and clinical documentation systems

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment
