Preference & Engagement Marketing Intern
The Preference Marketing Intern supports the marketing team in building early brand affinity and long-term buyer loyalty - core goals of modern B2B marketing. This is a learning-first role designed for someone eager to understand how brand and demand strategies work together to influence how buyers think about and choose vendors. You will work closely with experienced marketers who will mentor you through real projects and emerging best practices.
No prior professional marketing experience required; 0-1 years of relevant coursework or experience is ideal.
What You'll Do
Market & Buyer Research
  • Conduct desk research to gather buyer, competitive, and market insights under the guidance of senior team members
  • Help maintain and organize databases of competitive and buyer intelligence
  • Assist in summarizing findings from surveys, interviews, and syndicated research into draft personas and positioning notes

Campaign & Content Support
  • Support the production and distribution of content assets such as blog posts, sales presentations, buyer overviews, and web copy
  • Help coordinate the launch calendar and track deliverable deadlines across cross-functional teams
  • Draft derivative content for specific market segments, with coaching on how messaging connects to buyer needs

Preference & Brand Building (Learning Focus)
  • Learn how preference marketing works - specifically how brand and demand strategies unite to engage buyers before they enter a formal purchase process
  • Observe and assist in tracking engagement signals (e.g., content consumption, site visits) that indicate buyer interest and preference
  • Support campaign coordination efforts aimed at building awareness and favorable vendor perception across the buyer lifecycle

Metrics & Reporting Support
  • Help build and maintain dashboards that track campaign performance and engagement metrics
  • Assist in compiling data for reports on marketing impact, with guidance on interpreting results

What You'll Learn
This internship is structured to give you exposure to advanced marketing concepts:
  • Preference marketing strategy - How B2B buyers form vendor preferences before engaging sales, and why this changes how marketing teams operate
  • Zero-party data & preference centers - How brands collect and use customer-shared data to personalize experiences (you'll observe and support, not own)
  • Intent signals & buyer behavior - Introduction to how marketers use first- and third-party signals to understand where buyers are in their journey
  • Brand vs. demand fundamentals - How to balance long-term brand building with near-term pipeline activation

What We're Looking For
  • Curiosity about B2B marketing, buyer behavior, or brand strategy
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Comfort with research, organization, and project coordination [11]
  • Willingness to ask questions, take direction, and grow quickly

Mentorship & Growth
You will be paired with a senior portfolio or preference marketing manager who will provide regular check-ins, project feedback, and exposure to cross-functional marketing and sales workflows. This role is designed to develop your foundational skills and, for strong performers, can serve as a pipeline into a Product Marketing Specialist or Marketing Coordinator role.
