Job description

Part-Time Program Director
University of North Florida (UNF) Hillel
Role Overview
Make a meaningful impact on Jewish student life by becoming the Program Director at UNF Hillel. You will build personal relationships with students, organize exciting campus events, and encourage students to engage with Jewish life. Supported by the Gainesville-based UF Hillel professional team, you will work part-time in Jacksonville to foster a vibrant Jewish community at UNF. As the UNF Hillel professional, you will collaborate with students to develop programs focused on Jewish life at UNF.
You will identify and support students in developing Jewish life on campus. With the resources and backing of UF Hillel, you'll focus on programming and student engagement, while your UF Hillel colleagues handle administration, fundraising, communications, and university connections. This structure gives you the support of an established Hillel, while you work to expand and strengthen Hillel at UNF.
What You'll Do
  • Meet and build relationships with Jewish students at UNF, working to understand their needs and opportunities for Jewish life on campus.
  • Work with Jewish students to strengthen the student leadership structure
  • Meet weekly with the student board
  • Be present on campus two to three times per week
  • Partner with students to create a programming plan that includes activities for Shabbat and holidays, cultural events, educational programs, community building, and Israel. Work together to bring this vision to life.
  • Engage with Jewish students on campus and have at least three to five one-on-one interactions per week.
  • Track student engagement, which will help guide your efforts and ensure the most strategic approach
  • Actively contribute to shaping UNF Hillel by engaging 100 students during the first year.
What You'll Bring to the Job
  • At least two years of professional work experience
  • Bachelors degree
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit. Things may sometimes go differently from what you planned. You must be willing to take risks and learn from your wins and losses.
  • Confidence and skill to initiate and run programs
  • Comfort asking questions and willingness to accept guidance and mentorship from your Hillel colleagues.
  • Creative problem-solving.
  • Excitement to further develop your personal relationship with Judaism.
What You'll Receive
  • Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this 25-hour-per-week, 9-month-a-year part-time role is $22-28/hour.
  • A comprehensive benefits package
  • Great professional development, mentoring, and skill-building opportunities
  • Opportunities for regional and international travel, particularly to Israel.
