Job Summary
The Academic Enhancement Center's (AEC) part-time tutor (Science) provides academic tutorial support to currently enrolled GGC students. The Science part-time tutor engages in student success initiatives, such as study skills workshops, professional development training, and promotional events. The part-time tutor provides academic support to ensure students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to become independent learners.
Responsibilities

• Facilitates one-on-one and small-group tutoring sessions
• Engages in AEC student success initiatives, including but not limited to TIC (Tutors in the Classroom), TAC (Tutors Across Campus), and/or TOE (Tutoring Online)
• Establishes and maintains relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration
• Assists AEC leadership with developing tutor training activities and/or presentations
• Participates in professional development training, including CRLA tutor training certification initiatives
• Collaborates with the GGC community to promote AEC initiatives and to ensure student success
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• 4 Year/Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field
• Grade of B (2.75) or better in coursework related to the subject to be tutored
• 1 year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate Degree In related field
• Tutoring/teaching experience in higher education
• Experience working with underprepared students from a variety of backgrounds
• Experience with Microsoft software.

Proposed Salary
$16 ¿ 18 per hour
Salary offer will be dependent on candidate's experience and qualifications, internal equity considerations, budget availability, and salary administration guidelines

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration
• Willingness to work non-standard hours
• Ability to maintain a weekly schedule of 15-19 hours per week throughout the fall and spring semesters
• Ability to work non-standard hours (including evenings and weekends)
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with a varied group of people, meet deadlines, and work under minimal supervision
• Ability to lead seminars or workshops on a variety of academic topics for their colleagues and students
• Must have a positive disposition and excellent interpersonal communication skills
