SAT/ACT Prep Instructor

Do you want to make a real impact? Do you love math and English? Eager to help students succeed at their SAT/ACT and reach their goals for post-high school?

GradePower Learning Chesapeake is looking for an upbeat reliable, enthusiastic, dynamic part-time tutor who wants to work in a rewarding teaching environment. Candidates must be comfortable teaching students in 9th to 12th grade, at all levels. Instructors must be ready to teach advanced algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

We are currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning center. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers, equations, and language and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.

SAT/ACT tutoring experience - own grades in the 90th percentile required.

Tutors at GradePower Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements:

All Tutors at GradePower Learning work during after-school and evening hours, as well as Saturdays. A commitment until the end of the school year in June is preferred. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Background check is mandatory.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • College students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Strong knowledge of the current 9th to 12th grade math curriculum
  • Strong English grades

Experience:

  • Some experience teaching/tutoring at a 9th to 12th grade (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Responsibilities (Position Details):

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teaching in-person
  • Following the GradePower Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Filling in post-lesson notes
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
