Responsibilities
Linen Handler Drivers are an essential part to the Mayo Clinic Health System and are responsible for receiving, storing, collecting, distributing, tracking, and transporting linen (sterile, clean and/or soiled) throughout MCHS and Rochester in a safe and efficient manner. Driving responsibilities include safely operating a 28' straight truck with knowledge of and obeying all traffic laws and DOT regulations, performing DOT inspections, monitoring the physical condition of the truck, filling the truck with diesel fuel, DEF, anti-gel, and washer fluid and maintaining the cleanliness of the truck internally and externally. Perform preventative maintenance and mechanical operations such as electrically plugging trucks in during cold weather conditions. Operating lift gates and notifying supervisors of driving delays and/or transportation issues. Employ ergonomic techniques to safely load and unload deliveries with care which may require the use of pallet jacks or pallet lifts and utilizing power or manual lift plates. Loads may consist of carts, baskets, and/or polys and are verified by the driver for accuracy before delivery. Ensure all loads are delivered to the proper locations at the designated times by utilizing road maps and GPS devices. May be assigned to perform linen handler functions at Rochester Mayo locations. Safely removes soiled linen from serviced areas by utilizing all proper PPE. Accurately supply large quantities of linen to proper locations throughout the Mayo Clinic campuses. May be required to deliver soiled and clean instruments to designated locations. Assists supervisors in managing workflow through assignment planning and delivery schedules. Utilizes tablets for tracking of linen. Monitors linen and other QA/QC requirements. Completes other duties as assigned May be required to complete other job functions as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid driver license with no moving violations or convictions within one year is required. Must be able to read maps or utilize GPS to follow routes. Must be able to perform the physicality of duties related to freight distribution. Must be able to safely operate a 28' straight truck and be proficient in maneuvering into dock bays. Ergo tug, pallet jack, pallet lift, power washer, power and manual lift plates, and lift gate experience is preferred. Experience with truck operation and maintenance including filling diesel, anti-gel, plugging in the diesel engine block, and vehicle inspections is preferred. Driving a commercial motor vehicle requires linen handler drivers to complete and maintain all required forms and be physically qualified through a medical certificate and through the status of their driver's license. Medical certification is provided through Mayo Occupational Health. Must maintain a clean driving record and the ability to pass random drug tests. 
Required movement of heavy carts (up to 650 pounds) for extended distances. Must be able to lift 80 pounds repeatedly throughout the day. 
This position requires a valid Minnesota driver's license.
