Job description

Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking a dependable Patient Transporter to provide safe, timely, and compassionate transportation services for patients throughout their treatment journey. This role is essential to ensuring patients arrive at appointments, programming, and discharge destinations safely, respectfully, and in accordance with organizational standards.

The Patient Transport Specialist supports a structured, patient-centered environment by maintaining safety, confidentiality, and professionalism during all transportation-related activities while collaborating closely with clinical and operations teams.

Position Details

  • Reporting To: Transportation Supervisor / Operations Leadership
  • Schedule: Sunday-Thursday 3PM --11:30PM or Mon/Wed/Thurs 3PM-- 11:30PM
  • Location: Lake Worth, Fl (On-site)
  • Compensation: 17-18/hr.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Transportation & Safety

  • Safely transport patients to and from medical appointments, treatment programming, recreational activities, and discharge destinations as assigned.
  • Ensure patients are transported on time and in accordance with scheduled programming and facility needs.
  • Maintain patient safety, dignity, confidentiality, and professional boundaries during all transports.
  • Provide reassurance and appropriate support to patients while adhering to behavioral health safety protocols.

Vehicle & Operational Responsibilities

  • Operate company vehicles in compliance with traffic laws, insurance requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain cleanliness, readiness, and proper stocking of assigned vehicles.
  • Report vehicle maintenance needs, incidents, accidents, or safety concerns promptly.
  • Follow all safety, emergency response, and infection control protocols during transportation activities.

Communication & Team Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with clinical, nursing, and operations staff to coordinate transportation schedules and patient needs.
  • Report patient concerns, incidents, or behavioral observations to appropriate staff in a timely manner.
  • Support facility operations as needed to promote continuity of care and patient safety.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with company insurance requirements.
  • Minimum age of 21 to meet motor vehicle insurance eligibility requirements.
  • Ability to operate company vehicles safely and responsibly.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to maintain professionalism in patient-facing situations.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary treatment environment.
  • Experience in a healthcare, behavioral health, or substance use treatment setting is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a transportation, driving, or patient-facing role with safety responsibilities.
