What is a part time therapist office job?

Part-time therapist office jobs typically involve working in a mental health or counseling practice for less than a full workweek, often 20-30 hours or fewer. These roles can include therapists, counselors, administrative assistants, or office managers who support the daily operations of the office. Responsibilities may include scheduling appointments, maintaining client records, processing billing, and providing direct therapeutic services. Part-time positions offer flexibility and can be ideal for those balancing other commitments or seeking experience in the mental health field.

What are the typical responsibilities and scheduling expectations for a part time therapist working in an office setting?

As a part-time therapist in an office environment, your responsibilities typically include conducting client sessions, maintaining confidential records, collaborating with colleagues on case management, and participating in occasional staff meetings or trainings. Schedules are often flexible, allowing therapists to set their client hours around other commitments, but you may be expected to offer availability during peak times such as evenings or weekends. Working part-time can also mean balancing a varied caseload and coordinating with administrative staff to manage appointments and billing. This structure allows for meaningful clinical work while maintaining work-life balance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time therapist in an office setting, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Therapist in an office setting, you need a relevant master's degree (such as MSW, LPC, or LMFT), appropriate state licensure, and a solid understanding of therapeutic modalities. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth platforms is commonly required. Strong interpersonal skills, active listening, and emotional intelligence help build rapport and trust with clients. These abilities ensure effective treatment, documentation, and client engagement, which are critical for successful therapy outcomes.
