Position Summary:
Do you want to be a part in helping Baltimore teens design a Great FUTURE? As Boys amp; Girls Club of Metro Baltimore’s Great Futures Specialist you will do just that! The Great Futures Specialist supports the Manager of Great Futures in delivering programs that prepare teens for success in academics, leadership, careers, and life beyond high school. This part-time position focuses on building positive relationships with teens, facilitating age-appropriate programs, and creating a safe, affirming environment where teens feel heard, respected, and challenged to grow. The Specialist works directly with youth in program spaces, supports daily program delivery, and ensures programming reflects the mission and values of the Club.
Responsibilities:
Program Delivery amp; Youth Engagement
- Lead and assist with daily Great Futures programs in areas like academic support, leadership development, career exploration, and SEL skill building.
- Build authentic relationships with teens while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Encourage youth voice and choice in program design and participation.
- Adapt activities to meet the developmental needs and interests of teens.
Support amp; Supervision
- Work closely with the Great Futures Manager to implement program plans and schedules.
- Help support helpful and safe behavior during teen programs.
- Provide feedback to the Manager about teen participation, needs, ideas, and program impact.
Operations amp; Safety
- Assist in setting up, maintaining, and cleaning program spaces and materials.
- Follow all safety and youth protection guidelines.
- Support attendance tracking and reporting as directed.
Teamwork amp; Collaboration
- Collaborate with other staff to integrate teen leadership and readiness across program areas.
- Build supportive relationships with Club staff, youth, and families.
Education amp; Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework in education, youth development, social sciences, or related a plus.
- Experience working with teens in educational, recreational, or mentoring settings preferred.
- Strong communication, youth engagement, and role-modeling skills.
- Ability to balance warmth with boundaries in a teen setting.
Miscellaneous
- This is a part-time, hourly position.
- Must pass a background and reference check in accordance with youth safety standards.
- Some evening or weekend hours may be required for teen-focused events.
