Job description

Overview
Part Time Switch Board Operator - Hybrid
Position Highlights:
  • Schedule: 24 hours per week
  • Current Fixed Shifts Options: 2 Days are fixed hours with 8 hours of flexible time.
    • Monday & Tuesday - 8a - 4:30p or 8:30a - 5p
    • Monday & Wednesday - 8a - 4:30p or 8:30a - 5p
    • Monday & Thursday - 8a - 4:30p or 8:30a - 5p

Training Schedule:
  • ONSITE Training Schedule at the corporate office in Downers Grove, Il: Training can last between 3 - 8 weeks dependent on personal performance and may extend past the hours listed below.
    • Week 1: Monday through Friday 8:30a - 5p
    • Week 2: Monday through Friday 8a - 4:30p
    • Week 3: Monday through Friday 8a - 4:30p
    • Week 4+: Onsite Part Time through successful completion of training program.
    • Please note Continued ongoing training for cross training and quality development will be onsite at the Corporate office.

    Holiday Rotation: You will be responsible for working a rotation of 3 (Three) holidays per calendar year
    • Holiday shift: 8a - 5p - If the holiday does not fall on your regularly scheduled days, your schedule will be adjusted for that week accordingly.
    • The holidays will be rotated between New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Responsibilities
The Switchboard Operator is responsible for answering phones, directing calls, contacting providers, and handling basic patient scheduling questions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Call Center Responsibilities
  • Handling inbound Contact Center interactions (phone, email, MyChart, TOC, faxes, etc.)
  • Follow HIPAA policy and procedures
  • Understand and support the department policies and procedure

Paging
  • Paging of clinical staff
  • Follow paging protocols

Scheduling
  • Answer basic scheduling related questions i.e. directions to site, site hours, provider info, requests for MyChart login
  • Verifying and cancelling appointments
  • Escalation of clinical patient inquires when necessary to appropriate physician site/department
  • Schedule appointments based on specialty guidelines

Patient Information
  • Collect payment/patient balances

Qualifications
Education
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Previous call center and/or medical scheduling experience preferred
  • Knowledge of healthcare terminology a plus
  • Basic computer program and keyboard typing knowledge

Years of Experience
  • One to two years of medical office experience
  • Previous experience, one to two years of successful call center or scheduling in a healthcare central scheduling department.
  • Experience in typing, use of keyboard and computer entry.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and windows-based programs.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $18-$22, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
