Job description

Position Overview *The 14-day in-house notice is incorporated in this job announcement. The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Survey Technician II n the Department of Public Works. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to six (6) months or up to one (1) year, depending on employment status.

Under general supervision, coordinates assignments of Public Works survey crews performing skilled engineering and land surveys projects; and performs related duties as assigned. **NOTE TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES: Pursuant to the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement, full-time non-probationary employees successfully completing the assessment process will be placed on an eligibility list to be used to fill vacancies in this classification for up to six (6) months. Probationary full-time, part-time, temporary employees, and external candidates who successfully complete the testing process will be placed on separate list(s), which may be used to fill vacancies for up to one (1) year.

Minimum Qualifications Graduation from high school or the equivalent Five (5) years of experience performing progressively complex survey duties Previous experience must have included two (2) years of performing at a journey-level survey position Must possess and maintain a valid FAA Part 107 Drone License or obtain certification within twelve months of hire Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483 Desirable: Associate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Survey Technology or a closely related field Desirable: Successful completion of the NCEES Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) exam Required Documents/Assessment Information DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION: 1) Completed Employment Application ASSESSMENT DATES: Oral Board Interview (Weighted 100%) - Monday, August 24, 2026 (Best-Qualified Candidates) Selection Interview - Wednesday, August 26, 2026 (Top-Scoring Candidates) All applicants will be notified by email or telephone of their application status and the assessment dates/times/locations after the closing date of this announcement. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON SCHEDULING ASSESSMENTS: If you are invited to participate in the assessment process, you will be required to self-schedule through the City of Henderson online application system.
