Job Description
BASIC FUNCTION:
  • Develop and deliver instructional lectures for Agriculture courses up to 10 hours/week
  • Organize and teach all levels of Welding classes
  • Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning;
  • Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses;
  • Assess Student Learning Outcomes every semester;
  • Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees if desired

Essential Duties Summary
REQUIRED DUTIES:
Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:The minimum qualifications for disciplines on this list are any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience.
  • Any associates degree and six years of experience OR
  • Any bachelor's degree and two years of experience OR
  • The equivalent OR
  • Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area
  • Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master's degree. The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment.
  • OR the equivalent.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications
EXPERIENCE/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to applicants with:
  • Previous teaching, employment, or student experiences that provide the candidate with the ability to successfully teach courses in welding or manufacturing
  • Professional welding certification
  • ASE certification or experience in other areas of automotive repair
  • Experience working in an auto body repair, painting or refinishing shop
  • Experience supervising and/or working with a diverse population
  • Qualifications to work in other departments such as hydraulics, automotive technician, auto body repair, or agriculture
  • Background in the use of technology in the classroom/laboratory
  • Welding Inspector certification
  • Experience in metal fabrication
  • Preference may be given to candidates with life or teaching which would demonstrate the clear ability to teach Welding to community college students.
