Job description

As an Electrical Engineer Consultant with the Department of Corrections, you will take on meaningful work that keeps vital systems running.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK This role supports statewide corrections facilities by providing electrical engineering expertise for design, construction, and operations. The work ensures that systems remain dependable, safe, and aligned with established standards. As an Electrical Engineer Consultant, you will perform the following duties: Project Design: Prepare electrical designs, drawings, and specifications for projects of varying complexity Construction Review: Evaluate contractor submittals, design documents, and proposed changes for accuracy and compliance Field Inspection: Inspect facilities and construction sites to identify issues, confirm conditions, and ensure code adherence Technical Leadership: Advise staff, consultants, and facility personnel on electrical engineering needs and recommended actions Systems Analysis: Investigate electrical failures or unusual conditions and recommend corrective solutions Coordination Support: Work with other disciplines and agencies to guide project planning and execution Interested in learning more.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week after the initial 6-month training period

In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Mechanicsburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Additional details may be provided during the interview. Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Employees with the required certification or license may be eligible to receive a lump sum payment at the time of hire and each time the certification or license is renewed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years as an Electrical Engineer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of professional electrical engineering experience which required work on any structural electrical system.

Special Requirement: You must possess a Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists. Condition of Employment: This position requires possession of a valid driver's license. Other Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirement: You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
