From our space in the Indiana Memorial Union, hospitality staff serve thousands of guests each year through professional dining and retail operations, catered events, conferences, and celebrations, keeping our spaces clean and functional, our food tasty, and our customers happy.
Through meticulous planning and coordination, constant innovation, and a keen attention to detail, IU Catering staff use fresh, seasonal ingredients to deliver spectacular client-driven culinary experiences on campus and throughout Bloomington, from piping hot coffee and in-house baked pastries for a meeting of 20, to a sumptuous 5-course meal and elegant custom cake for a wedding of 200.
Job Summary
  • Provides high quality guest service while enforcing policies and safety
  • Ensures guests have a positive, memorable experience
  • Assists with bar set-up/close-down plans including cash close-out
  • Maintains standards ensuring consistent presentation, aesthetics of setting, and quality of beverage service
  • Attends beer, wine, and spirits trainings
  • Assists with catering events
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
  • Some bartending experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Required
  • Ability to obtain Alcohol Serving Permit upon date of hire
OTHER

  • 21 years of age or older
SKILLS

  • General knowledge of bartending and mixology, along with food safety practices
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to move items up to 40 pounds. This position involves remaining stationary for extended periods of time. The role requires the ability to detect items in proximity as well as far away, discern between colors, detect objects in peripheral space of self, discern items in detail, and to have good depth perception. This role also will work indoors around both hot and cold temperatures and loud noises. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary
$12.75 per hour
Work Hours
Minimum of 10 hours per week, Monday - Sunday.
Maximum 29 hours per week.
Flexible work schedule with ability to work late hours.
Management reserves the right to adjust work hours to accommodate special meals and events.
