Do you enjoy helping people, staying organized, and keeping an office running efficiently? If so, we'd love to meet you.

The City of Jonesboro is seeking a customer-focused Part-time Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for citizens, contractors, developers, and visitors.

What You'll Do

As our Receptionist, you will:

  • Welcome visitors and answer questions in person and over the phone.

  • Assist citizens, contractors, and developers with permit and application inquiries.

  • Prepare correspondence, reports, ordinances, agendas, and other documents.

  • Organize and maintain department files and databases.

  • Help prepare meeting packets for boards and commissions.

  • Maintain office supplies and support.

  • Work 20-25 hours per week, M-F 12:30p - 5:00p. Occasionally fill in for the mornings as needed.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

This position is responsible for providing reception and administrative support to the department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


1. Acts as receptionist. This duty is performed daily.

2. Maintains office supply inventory. This duty is performed daily.

3. Composes and types routine office correspondence, reports, ordinances, resolutions, etc. This duty is performed daily.

4. Maintains files for all department subdivisions, site plan and zoning records as well as updating the information tracking system. This duty is performed daily.

5. Acts as the point of input for all software automation processes for permit submissions. This duty is performed daily.

6. Responds to citizen's requests in a complete, courteous and timely manner by telephone or front counter. This duty is performed daily.

7. Assist in the development of review packets for various boards and commissions at the direction of the administrator. This duty is performed weekly.

8. Assists in Database maintenance of all incoming plats and applications; Assigns case numbers. This duty is performed daily.

9. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Mental alertness and adaptability to office and field area work routines. Equivalent to four years high school or GED, with particular emphasis during high school in office skills, shop skills, or others, plus 0-6 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers. Ability to perform these mathematical skills using money and other forms of measurement.
