About the Job:
The YMCA Arlington is looking for a motivated, driven, and enthusiastic Group Exercise Instructors to join our team for the following. Barre, Cycle, and Les Mills classes. The group exercise instructor is responsible for instructing group fitness classes that exceed member expectations, promote services to attain and retain members, and provide a positive and fun group fitness experience.
Some of the exciting tasks you will do as a Group Exercise Instructor include but are not limited to:
  • Deliver the Ultimate Fitness Experience to every member, every time
  • Create a positive class atmosphere and motivate members to reach their goals through group fitness
  • Teach safe and effective classes in accordance with industry standards. Provide modifications when necessary
  • Promote the Y activities and programs to class attendees
  • Be available to members before and after class

Schedule:
Flexible teaching hours in the mornings, evenings, and weekends
Qualifications and Skills:
High school diploma or GED. Must be 18 years or older. Able to conduct safe, effective and motivating group exercise class. Must display an outgoing personality, enabling him/her to relate well to participants. Demonstrated interest in working with individuals as well as groups of people. Current CPR, AED. Nationally recognized group exercise certification and/or other specialty certifications like Spin/Indoor Cycle, Les Mills, and Barre.
Working Conditions:
Able to teach at various times during the day. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, reach with hands or arms, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
