 PART-TIME PreSchool Instructional Assistant
SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT:  All Schools
TYPE:  Classified     STATUS:  Non-Exempt    SALARY Range:  30 -33 ($10.54 - $11.35 depends on college credits/degree, recognize up to 12 years experience)
REPORTS TO:  Building Principal
Specific Duties/Tasks Include:






 
  • Works with students on a one-on-one or small group settings to facilitate learning.
  • Modifies lessons under teacher's supervision to accommodate student's needs such as English-Spanish translation and individualized instruction.
  • Prepares class materials for upcoming projects and activities.
  • Aids teachers in preparing thematic units.
  • Utilizes District behavior modification program as needed.
  • Observes students' development, writes anecdotal notes, and enters observations onto TSG's online reporting system on a weekly basis.
  • Organizes materials/activities to meet specific needs of each student.
  • Consults and collaborates with classroom teacher on progress of students.
  • Assists teachers with classroom duties by preparing materials, filing paperwork, monitors and supervises students in classroom, playground and cafeteria settings.
  • Prepares workstations or learning centers for students to work on daily lessons.
  • Ensures that classroom furniture, cots, cot sheets, and manipulatives are cleaned and disinfected on a daily/weekly/monthly basis as recommended by Licensure standards.
  • Assists teacher on all classroom-related activities and preparations, including outside learning activities.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all mandatory/required trainings.
  • Be willing to attend some mandatory trainings on Saturday
 
Knowledge and Skills and Other Characteristics Required:
  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Education's best practices for children 3-5 years old.
  • Knowledge of District policies and procedures affecting assigned work.
  • Knowledge of District behavior modification program.
  • Skill in monitoring and assisting students through positive discipline enforcement.
  • Skill in elective oral and written communication.
  • Skill in following oral and written instructions.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
 
Physical Requirements:
  • Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Work requires frequent standing, walking, and sitting. 
  • Some positions may require bending and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases and body fluid-borne pathogens. 
 
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have a CDA certificate OR be enrolled in a CDA program upon hiring, and show proof of successful advancement toward Certificate completion on a semester basis.
  • 60 credit hours from an accredited college (preferable on Early Childhood Education)
  • A minimum of one year of experience working in an Early Childhood Education classroom setting.
 
ADDITIONAL LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS BEFORE HIRING
  • Fingerprint Registration Application Form AND Fingerprint Card
  • Immunization Record: MMR, DTAP, and TB test results. If TB results are positive, a statement from a doctor is needed.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Driver's License
  • Official college transcripts
  • Two letters of recommendation from previous employers
