Job description

The Quality Assurance Specialist (Part-Time) will support the Safety and Mission Assurance Services II (SMAS II) contract via a resident management office located in Ogden, UT.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS) inspection functions for space flight hardware in accordance with established customer and company requirements.
  • Maintain current company and customer-required training and certifications necessary to uphold quality inspection stamp authorization and warranty expectations.
  • Execute quality requirements in accordance with customer-approved quality assurance plans, policies, and specifications during all phases of hardware fabrication, testing, first article inspections, and final end-item inspections.
  • Apply working knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001 Quality System requirements, or equivalent industry standards, while interpreting complex blueprints, technical charts, and specification sheets.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED:

  • This position requires US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Must have a High School or equivalent.
  • Must have 5+ years of recent and related work experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical charts, and specification sheets.
  • Ability to initiate non-conformance reports, document and report inspection results, and monitor corrective actions for effectiveness.
  • Maintain current company and customer training certifications required to uphold quality inspection stamp authorization and warranty expectations.
  • Work with company and customer representatives to resolve inspection questions and communicate technical issues to project engineers to ensure compliance with final product specification requirements.
  • Knowledge of higher-level quality assurance system requirement documents, with the ability to interpret and apply QA system-level requirements while performing quality assurance duties.
  • Interpret and apply higher-level quality assurance system requirements while performing all assigned quality assurance duties.
  • Execute quality requirements in accordance with customer-approved quality assurance plans, policies, and specifications during all phases of hardware fabrication, testing, first article inspections, and final end-item inspections.
  • Perform accurate mechanical, physical, and visual inspections, conduct process surveillance through witnessing and monitoring techniques, and verify test results and documentation for raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies in accordance with approved inspection documents and specification requirements.

WORK LOCATION:

  • This position is located onsite; some travel may be required.
  • Schedules are subject to change based on the requirements of the position and/or customer needs.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.

  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
  • Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
