What is a Part Time Software Developer Contract?

A Part Time Software Developer Contract is a work arrangement where a software developer is hired to work on specific projects or tasks for a company for a set number of hours per week, rather than as a full-time employee. The contract typically outlines the scope of work, payment terms, and duration of the engagement. Part-time contracts offer flexibility for both the employer and the developer, allowing the developer to balance multiple projects or other commitments. This type of role is common for startups, small businesses, or companies with fluctuating workloads that do not require a full-time developer.

What engineers make $500,000?

Senior software engineers, especially those with expertise in high-demand areas like machine learning, cloud computing, or cybersecurity, can earn $500,000 or more annually, often through a combination of base salary, bonuses, and stock options. Job description

Communities across the Pacific Northwest rely on resilient, well-designed water infrastructure, and that work has never been more critical. At Stantec, our Water structural engineers take on complex, high-impact challenges: seismic-resilient treatment facilities, large-scale concrete structures, and infrastructure that protects public health for generations.
Join a collaborative, technically strong team where your expertise shapes projects, standards, and future leaders.
Your Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer (or Senior Civil Engineer with structural emphasis) to play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater facilities throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
In this role, you'll serve as a technical leader on structural design, partnering closely with multidisciplinary teams while maintaining strong ties to hands-on engineering. You'll work under the mentorship of a Principal Structural Engineer while enjoying meaningful autonomy and influence.
What You'll Do
  • Serve as structural design lead on water and wastewater facilities, including treatment plants, reservoirs, and liquid-containing concrete structures
  • Perform and oversee conceptual through detailed structural design, including analysis, calculations, drawings, and specifications
  • Design primarily reinforced concrete, along with masonry and structural steel systems
  • Collaborate with civil, mechanical, process, and construction teams to deliver coordinated solutions
  • Review and guide structural work produced by other engineers and designers
  • Provide construction support, including submittal reviews, RFIs, and structural observations
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, helping grow technical capability across the team
  • Contribute to the development of structural standards, tools, and best practices
  • Represent Stantec with clients, partners, and regulators as a trusted technical advisor

What We're Looking For
  • 8+ years of structural engineering experience, ideally within water, wastewater, or heavy civil infrastructure
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Oregon PE preferred; out-of-state PEs supported in obtaining OR licensure. Structural Engineer (SE) license welcome but not required
  • Strong working knowledge of IBC / OSSC, ASCE 7, ACI 318 and/or ACI 350, and AISC 360, TMS 402
  • Experience designing and reviewing seismic and liquid-containing structures
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD; familiarity with 3D structural modeling
  • Experience with analysis software such as SAP2000, RAM, RISA, or STAAD
  • Clear communicator who enjoys collaboration, mentoring, and problem-solving

Why Stantec
  • Work on high-profile public infrastructure projects that make a lasting impact
  • Strong technical culture with access to engineering specialists across North America
  • Opportunities to grow into discipline leadership or technical expert roles
  • Support for licensure, professional development, and industry involvement
  • Competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and bonus eligibility
