Job Summary:

Join our healthcare team as a Shuttle Driver at our state-of-the-art hospital in Illinois. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation services for hospital staff, patients, and visitors. The Shuttle Driver plays a key part in ensuring the smooth flow of personnel and materials within the hospital campus, contributing to a positive and supportive healthcare environment

What you will do:

  • Operate hospital shuttle vehicles safely and efficiently, following all traffic laws and regulations

  • Provide transportation services for hospital staff, patients, and visitors to designated locations on the hospital campus.

  • Adhere to designated shuttle routes and schedules to ensure timely transportation services.

  • Communicate any delays or disruptions to the Shuttle Operations manager Promptly.

  • Provide courteous and professional customer service to passengers.

  • Assist passengers with entering and exiting the shuttle, ensuring their safety and comfort.

  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of shuttle vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.

  • Report any mechanical issues or concerns to the appropriate personnel for maintenance.

  • Maintain effective communication with the Shuttle Operations Manager and other shuttle drivers.

  • Relay relevant information to passengers, such as changes in schedules or routes.

  • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures related to shuttle operations

  • Uphold safety and security protocols to ensure the wellbeing of passengers.

What you will need:

  • Education: High School Diploma or Vocational Degree Required

  • Certification: DOT Medical Card (Medical Examiner's Certificate - MEC) required.

  • License Requirements: Valid Illinois Class C CDL driver's license with passenger endorsement, or a valid Class C CDL or higher from another state with passenger endorsement, with the requirement to obtain an Illinois license within 90 days of hire.

  • Within three (3) years of date of application or promotion, must not have been convicted of: a) driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, b) reckless driving, c) leaving the scene of an accident involving death or personal injury, d) drag racing, e) manslaughter, f) reckless homicide, g) reckless conduct from the use of a motor vehicle or other serious driving infractions/convictions.

  • Valid driver's license for three (3) years prior to the date of application required.

  • A good driving record subject to State driver motor vehicle verification to comply with Hospital insurance requirements required.

  • Experience: 1 year of experience driving a passenger van or bus (i.e. school bus, shuttle bus, passenger van) required.

  • Unique or Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge: Vehicle Inspection and Safety Compliance

  • Skills: Vehicle Control:Executing precision maneuvers, including straight-line backing, offset backing, and alley docking.

  • Abilities: Decision Making:Ability to make quick, safe decisions regarding lane changes, braking, and hazards.

  • Pre-Trip Inspection:Proficiently checking fluid levels, tire tread/pressure, lights, and signals.

Physical Demands: Medium work (exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 30 lbs. of force frequently and or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects)
