Over Drew Charter School’s twenty-year history, the school has grown to serve grades PreK-12 with nearly 1,900 students in a “cradle-to-college” pipeline, including two onsite early learning partners. Position Description
Bus drivers transport students to and from field trips and events in accordance with state traffic and safety regulations and according to Drew Charter School’s schedules. his part-time hourly position offers frequent daytime, after-school, and weekend opportunities, including school breaks and summer months. This position reports to the Transportation Coordinator.
Perfomance Responsibilities
  • Required to have prompt and regular attendance for scheduled shifts
  • Provides safe loading and unloading of all passengers from buses during regular transport and emergency situations
  • Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections (e.g., fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc.) to ensure the safe operating condition of the vehicle and comply with mandated guidelines
  • Reports observations and/or incidents (e.g., discipline, bullying, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) to appropriate personnel
  • Attends regular team meetings and other required training
  • Performs basic first-aid and safety practices
  • Ability to operate vehicles, fire extinguishers, two-way radios, and other related tools
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow printed and electronic maps, directions and route descriptions
  • Knowledge of emergency evacuation techniques
  • Ability and knowledge to utilize wheelchairs, tie-downs, lifts, etc.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills including addition and subtraction
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Transportation Coordinator
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum age 18
  • Pass post-hire physical exam
Work Experience
  • Previous school bus driving experience within past two years
Certifications
  • Georgia State Drivers’ CDL license with Passenger and School Bus endorsement
  • Must be able to pass Georgia basic bus driver’s certification class and maintain an annual Safety Renewal Education Program (SREP) recertification
  • Successful completion of an annual physical and agility testing with result clearance
  • Successful completion of pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing
Compensation
