These nurses provide patient care, administer medications, and collaborate with healthcare teams, but usually have more flexible schedules. Part-time RNs may work in various settings, such as hospitals, clinics, or outpatient centers within the Sentara network. The role allows nurses to maintain a work-life balance while still contributing to patient care and the organization’s mission.

Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, medication administration protocols, and hospital-specific procedures is typically required. Compassion, teamwork, and effective communication are essential soft skills for providing excellent patient care and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. These skills and qualifications ensure that even in a part-time capacity, nurses maintain high standards of safety, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.
