Education
Required - Associate degree in nursing.
Preferred - Bachelor's degree in nursing.
Work Experience
Required - 3 years of registered nurse (RN) experience.
Experience
Preferred - 5 years RN experience with 3 years critical care or flight experience. STABLE, NPR and 40 hour Transport Course (Louisiana) within 6 months of hire
Certifications
Required - Registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Emergency Medical Technician Basic or above required within 1 year of hire.
Preferred - Certification in critical care, emergency, or flight nursing, Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC), Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to be detailed oriented.
  • Good time management skills and ability to be self directed.
  • Strong interpersonal and delegation skills and ability to demonstrate good judgement.
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment with minimal supervision.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
