Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Job Description

Work Arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days per week onsite

Location: Chicago, IL

Experience Level: 8-10 years

Position Overview

ย ย ย ย  Extend and maintain the test automation framework using Java and JavaScript.

ย ย ย ย  Own the understanding of business requirements and acceptance criteria, and develop corresponding test strategies and test plans.

ย ย ย ย  Develop automated test cases within the existing automation framework.

ย ย ย ย  Provide technical leadership and mentoring to test engineers across multiple applications and projects, both onshore and offshore, including training team members to create, execute, analyze, and maintain automated regression suites.

ย ย ย ย  Coordinate with product owners to resolve open issues, enhancements, and upgrades, and to clarify the intended use of specific functionality.

Typical Day-to-Day Responsibilities

ย ย ย ย  Develop test automation code supporting Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) for systems, infrastructure, and the test framework.

ย ย ย ย  Plan, design, develop, and maintain an API test automation framework that facilitates automation scripting, execution, and analysis of results.

ย ย ย ย  Develop automated functional test scripts using tools such as Java, Karate, and JMeter.

ย ย ย ย  Perform exploratory and manual testing of the product suite as appropriate.

ย ย ย ย  Apply and promote testing methodologies, best practices, and standards across the team.

Team Structure & Work Environment

ย ย ย ย  Collaborates with a team of 20+ team members.

ย ย ย ย  Works onsite in a hybrid capacity, 3 days per week, at the Chicago, IL office beginning day one; interviews may also take place onsite.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience:

ย ย ย ย  Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience (8-10 years total experience).

Technical Skills:

ย ย ย ย  Strong design and development skills in two or more of the following: Java (3-5 years), Cucumber (3-5 years), JBehave, or other BDD testing frameworks.

ย ย ย ย  At least 8 years of experience designing test automation frameworks.

ย ย ย ย  Strong experience testing web services (REST APIs) (3-5 years).

ย ย ย ย  Proven experience developing test scripts, test cases, and test data.

ย ย ย ย  Ability to write queries in SQL or other relational databases.

ย ย ย ย  3+ years of experience developing scenario-based performance testing using JMeter.

ย ย ย ย  Experience with full-stack and integration testing involving third parties.

ย ย ย ย  End-to-end system integration testing experience for software platforms.
