Position Overview
The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) Intern at Fullbay assists in designing, developing, executing, and maintaining automated tests under the guidance of experienced SDETs and software engineers. Manual testing is performed as needed to investigate behavior, validate functionality, and support software delivery. This technical role provides hands-on experience with quality engineering, software testing, automation frameworks, APIs, and AI-assisted development and testing practices while contributing to reliable, high-performing applications.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist in designing, implementing, debugging, and maintaining automated tests for web, API, and mobile applications.
  • Review requirements, acceptance criteria, and technical designs to identify test scenarios, quality risks, and coverage gaps.
  • Collaborate with SDETs, developers, and Product team members to refine testing strategies and support development goals.
  • Execute automated tests and perform focused manual, exploratory, functional, regression, and integration testing as needed.
  • Test APIs and service integrations by validating requests, responses, authentication, error handling, and expected behavior.
  • Document and report software defects clearly, then work with development teams to reproduce issues and verify fixes.
  • Document test results, investigation notes, and the current state of assigned work items.
  • Use approved AI-assisted tools to support test planning, automation development, debugging, technical learning, and coverage analysis.
  • Review and validate AI-generated code or recommendations for correctness, security, maintainability, and alignment with team standards.
  • Participate in automation code reviews and learn maintainable, reliable, and reusable test-design practices.
  • Support automated test execution in CI/CD workflows and assist with investigating test or pipeline failures.
  • Support test environments, test data, configurations, and integration activities as needed.
  • Adhere to all confidentiality and compliance regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education & Work Experience:
  • Pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science or a related field. Previous experience in software development, including academic or project-based exposure to modern systems and programming languages, is preferred.

Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Foundational knowledge of software development, testing principles, and automation practices.
  • Ability to read and debug code in Java, C#, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or a similar language.
  • Exposure to automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, JUnit, or pytest.
  • Basic knowledge of API testing, databases, cloud platforms, source control, and CI/CD concepts.
  • Interest in AI-assisted development and testing tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or ChatGPT Codex.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Xray, or similar work-tracking tools is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Curiosity, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn and accept feedback.
