What is a part time screen printing job?

A part time screen printing job involves working limited hours, usually less than 40 per week, in a facility or business that creates printed designs on items like t-shirts, posters, or bags. Employees in this role typically prepare screens, mix inks, load materials, operate printing presses, and help with cleanup. It’s a hands-on job that may also include tasks such as quality checking finished products and assisting with order fulfillment. Part time positions are ideal for students, those seeking supplemental income, or individuals looking for flexible work schedules.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time screen printing technician?

To thrive as a Part Time Screen Printing Technician, you need basic graphic design knowledge, attention to detail, and manual dexterity, often with a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with screen printing presses, inks, curing equipment, and design software like Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW is typically required. Strong time management, teamwork, and problem-solving skills help you handle multiple projects and ensure print quality. These skills are crucial to produce high-quality prints efficiently and maintain customer satisfaction in a deadline-driven environment.

What are some common challenges faced by part time screen printers, and how can they be managed effectively?

Part-time screen printers often face challenges such as mastering proper ink application, ensuring consistent print quality across varying materials, and efficiently managing time when balancing multiple jobs. Since the work can be physically demanding and deadline-driven, developing strong organizational skills and attention to detail is essential. Collaborating openly with team members and seeking feedback can help improve technique and reduce errors, while staying updated on best practices and maintenance routines ensures smoother operations.

Job description

Seasonal Production Assistant – Screen Print (No Experience Required)

Position Summary:
  • Burghardt Sporting Goods is looking for dependable, hands-on team members for an entry-level seasonal production position in our Screen Print Department.
  • No screen printing or production experience is required; we’ll teach you what you need to know.
  • This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys staying busy, working with their hands, and being part of a team.
  • The tasks are straightforward, easy to learn, and play an important role in helping our screen print team keep production moving efficiently.
  • Our experienced screen print team handles the more technical aspects of production and operates the printing equipment.
  • This position helps keep work moving by taking care of the preparation, finishing, organizing, and support tasks surrounding the printing process.

We are open to hiring one full-time seasonal employee or two part-time seasonal employees, depending on availability and scheduling. Hours will generally fall during our daytime production schedule, Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:00am and 2:00pm. Seasonal employees should be available to work through the end of our holiday season, which wraps up on December 23, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Product Preparation: Unbox and unpack garments, remove packaging, and organize product so it is ready for production.
  • Job Staging: Lay out, sort and organize garments by job, style, size, color, or other instructions so the production team has what they need when they need it.
  • Dryer Assistance: Catch finished garments as they come off the conveyor dryer and stack or organize them for the next step in production.
  • Folding Finishing: Fold, stack, count, and organize completed garments so they are ready to move on to the next department or be prepared for the customer.
  • Material Preparation: Assist with simple cutting, measuring, sorting, or preparing of production materials as trained and directed by the screen print team.
  • Production Support: Move garments and supplies between work areas, replenish materials, stage upcoming jobs, and assist team members with day-to-day tasks so experienced production employees can stay focused on operating equipment.
  • Organization Cleaning: Keep tables, carts, work areas, supplies, and production areas clean and organized throughout the day.
  • Assist with other simple production tasks as needed during busy periods.

What We’re Looking For:
  • No previous screen printing or production experience required.
  • Dependable and able to maintain a consistent work schedule.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable learning repetitive, hands-on tasks.
  • Able to work efficiently while maintaining accuracy.
  • Willing to jump in wherever needed to help the team keep production moving.
  • Comfortable working independently as well as alongside a production team.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and move throughout much of the workday.
  • Ability to use hands for repetitive tasks such as handling, sorting, stacking, and folding garments.
  • Ability to lift and move boxes, garments, and production materials as needed.
  • Comfortable working in an active production environment.

Why Join Burghardt Sporting Goods?
  • Learn easy-to-pick-up production skills — no screen printing experience necessary.
  • Work a daytime, Monday-Friday schedule.
  • Stay active and busy throughout your shift.
  • Be part of a supportive team working together during our busiest season.
  • Help produce customized apparel for local teams, schools, businesses, and organizations.
