Job description


Position Summary:
The Department of Clinical Sciences mission is to assure the health and productivity of animals to meet societal needs through high quality educational programs for professional veterinary medical students, graduate veterinarians, and the public through a faculty and veterinary medical center of excellence, and to advance and disseminate comparative biomedical knowledge in an environment of interdisciplinary collaboration.
This part-time (50% FTE) position in the Department of Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University will provide comprehensive administrative, planning, and organizational support to two program faculty members responsible for delivering 8 veterinary communication courses and 4-6 veterinary communication continuing education workshops annually. This role provides an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative program, supporting leaders in the field committed to excellence in experiential education. This position will play a vital role in supporting faculty, guest instructors, communication coaches, and simulated clients. Your contribution is essential in ensuring the delivery of high-quality education to veterinary students and facilitating professional development for veterinarians.

Essential Job Duties:
Teaching Support - Communication Coursework
  • Provides comprehensive operational and instructional support for communication coursework, including coordinating facilities; recruiting, scheduling and supporting communication coaches and simulated clients; collaborating with faculty on course planning and SOPs.
  • Manages course administration in Canvas, including maintaining course content, tracking assignments and grades, overseeing evaluations, and supporting smooth course delivery and post-course follow-up.

Continuing Education Support - Continuing Education Workshops
  • Coordinates and supports continuing education-specific workshops, including annual scheduling and planning; collaborating with faculty and external partners and managing contracts, registrations, and invoice tracking; arranging participant travel, lodging, and shuttle services; and serving as the primary host and point-of-contact for visiting veterinarians and other workshop attendees.

Administrative
  • Provides administrative and operational support for the veterinary communication program, including managing day-to-day administrative tasks; tracking donations; maintaining filing systems and material inventories; supporting faculty research and writing; and performing routine office, documentation, data entry, and electronic administrative functions.
  • Support building and maintaining an online presence for the veterinary communication program.

Minimum Education Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree

OR
  • Associates degree plus 2+ years' experience in program/office administration/coordination, event or conference planning/coordination, continuing education, business, or communication.

OR
  • High School Diploma (or GED) plus 4+ years' experience in program/office administration/coordination, event or conference planning/coordination, continuing education, business, or communication.

Minimum Experience/Skills Qualifications:
  • Proven proficiency in office management, program administration, and event planning.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills with a high level of professionalism.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in project management.
  • Exemplary organizational and time management abilities.
  • Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team within established frameworks.
  • Strong writing and editing proficiency.
  • Advanced skills in Outlook, Word, Excel, Canvas, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams; ability to quickly adapt to and learn other software and electronic platforms.

Salary Range
$57,500 - $67,500 based on full-time
