Job description

Hersheypark amusement park spans 121-acres, and welcomes guests to experience Hersheypark Happy all year long! As the largest amusement park in Pennsylvania, Hersheypark is home to more than 70 rides including 15 coasters and 20+ kiddie rides, as well as a zoo, and an entire water park.
As a Haunted Attractions Attendant, you will ensure our guests and actors are safe throughout their experience at a Dark Nights haunted house attraction.

Job Duties (Duties marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this job):
  • Maintain safety by addressing safety concerns and enforcing rules in attraction queues, haunted house attractions, and scare zones*
  • Ensure efficient and consistent guest movement throughout haunted house attractions. Assist guests who may become frightened or disoriented while inside the haunted house attraction by directing them to the closest exit*
  • Assist in maintaining the overall safety of all guests, co-workers, and performers within the haunted house attraction*
  • Assists supervisors, fellow attendants, and guests with standard operational procedures, including providing direction during emergency situations*
  • Provide excellent customer service to the guests of Hersheypark by greeting guests and answering questions related to the attraction*
  • Keep a safe and clean work area
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Must be 16 years of age or older on the date of applying
  • This position is designated as Safety Sensitive and requires successful completion and passing of a pre-employment drug test.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must be friendly, upbeat, work well with other employees, and be able to interact with our guests in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to handle stressful working conditions, and emergencies and accept a high degree of accountability
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate verbally, including delivering safety instructions/directions, verbal cues, and speaking clearly into radios
  • Must have the ability to comprehend instructions (verbal, demonstrated, and/or written) and retain information
  • Must have the ability to safeguard confidential information
  • Must have the ability to look after company assets, including: radios, earpieces and assets
  • Must display a positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and professional image in compliance with the Hershey Entertainment & Resorts guidelines

Job Demands:
  • Must be able to work weekends throughout September and October and attend any associated training required for the position
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and shifts, including afternoons and evenings
  • Employees are subject to a variety of weather conditions, including but not limited to: extreme heat, sun exposure, cold, and inclement weather. Work varies between indoors and outdoors based on the assigned position
  • Physical requirements include the ability to stand (for up to six hours at a time) and walk.
  • May be required to work in dark, tight spaces that have multiple different sensory elements, including lighting effects, loud noises, artificial scents, and fog elements.
