Job Description
Woodwind Instructor (9 hours/week, 4 months)
The Boston College Bands Program seeks a part-time Woodwind Instructor to provide instruction and support for the piccolo, alto saxophone, and tenor saxophone students in the "Screaming Eagles" Marching Band. Applicants should have extensive experience playing and instructing these instruments. Applicants must be available for our preseason Camp during the last two weeks of August from 9 AM to 10 PM in addition to weekly rehearsals during the fall season on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 PM to 10 PM. In addition to seven home football games, applicants must be available for occasional command and travel performances including potential bowl games.
Each staff member in the Division of Student Affairs is expected to support division and university-wide initiatives, staff events, and serve on committees as needed.
Salary: $5,159
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Music degree required, master's degree in music or music education is preferred.
  • Successful experience as a music instructor for marching band
  • Must be available for Band Camp
  • Must attend all rehearsals and performances
  • In the event of post-season football games, must be available for post-season travel
  • Must be able to relate to, teach, and motivate college students
