Job description

The Manager of Out-of-School Time oversees the day-to-day implementation of Temple Future Scholars and Academy programming for middle and high school students. The position manages Saturday and year-round program operations, supervises part-time instructional staff, supports curriculum implementation and continuous improvement, facilitates school-based workshops, and partners with the Associate Director of Out-of-School Time to ensure high-quality student programming and successful program execution.
What You’ll Do
  • Oversee school selection and recruitment programming for Temple Future Scholars and Academy in partnership with school partners and Temple University
  • Present high school selection information and coaching to district partner school and Academy students
  • Recruit, supervise, coach, schedule, and evaluate part-time instructional staff for Saturday, summer, and year-round programming to ensure consistent, high-quality programming implementation
  • Monitor student participation, attendance, engagement, and program data to ensure program goals and performance metrics are achieved
  • Support the implementation of the OST curriculum and collaborate with the Associate Director by providing feedback, recommendations, and classroom observations to support ongoing curriculum development and continuous improvement
  • Facilitate workshops and student programming at partner schools to support academic success, social-emotional learning, high school readiness, and college and career readiness
  • Collaborate with external partners to help provide additional in and out-of-school programming
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of Saturday programming, including staff supervision, program logistics, student engagement, and instructional quality
  • Provide on-site leadership during Saturday and summer programming by supervising instructional staff, maintaining program expectations, and supporting a positive student culture
  • Support the Associate Director in implementing departmental initiatives, improving program quality, and ensuring consistent execution of OST programming across all grade levels
  • Represent Heights Philadelphia professionally while building positive relationships with partner schools, families, Temple University, and community organizations
  • Provide on-site support three (3) or more days per week.
  • Report to work on a regular basis and is available for occasional after-hours emergency calls and projects.
  • Report to work on a Tuesday-Saturday schedule
  • May be asked to perform additional duties not listed in the job description as required by business needs.

What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum four years experience in a school-facing role
  • Access to reliable transportation to support frequent visits to schools and/or other sites to attend meetings and/or events.
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience using a Customer Relations System (CRM) like Salesforce or Learning Management System (LMS) like Canvas
  • Ability to frequently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Ability to lift up to twenty (20) pounds.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • May require more than forty (40) hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
Compensation amp; Benefits

The salary for this position, which depends on prior work experience and our assessment of your demonstrated fit for the role, will likely be between $59,000-$65,000. Heights offers competitive base salaries based on the Philadelphia market among not-for-profit organizations of similar size, with opportunities for salary growth over time. In addition to your experience, expertise and strengths, you must meet PA State background check requirements [PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprint Check] at hire and every five years thereafter. You’ll also need to adhere to COVID safety guidelines as required by the Department of Human Services and/or the School District of Philadelphia.
Work Arrangements
Heights Philadelphia currently maintains a hybrid work environment where staff work from home, in our Center City office, and on-site with school partners, as determined by the staff member's or team’s responsibilities. We also prioritize time together as an organization through our staff convenings and professional development - living in our value of succeeding together. This role is required to report in person for a minimum of 3 days per week, Wednesday, Saturday, and a third day agreed upon with the Associate Director. Additional reporting days may be necessary depending on the priorities and schedule for a specific team. For school-based staff, it is required that you report in person 4 days per week.
