PASSANGER VEHICLE DRIVER-PART TIME
FACILIITES MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT
MALCOLM X COLLEGE
Malcolm X College is currently seeking a part-time Passenger Vehicle Driver for Facility Management Department
City Colleges of Chicago's vision is to be recognized as the city's most accessible higher education engine of socioeconomic mobility and racial equity - empowering all Chicagoans to take part in building a stronger and more just city. The community college system's more than 3,500 faculty and staff serve more than 60,000 students annually at seven colleges and five satellite sites.
Reporting to an assigned administrator, the Passenger Vehicle Driver is responsible for safely driving and operating CCC vehicles to transport students, faculty, and staff to and from predetermined locations, including, but not limited to, sporting events, meetings, and field trips. Performs other related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Drives a CCC transportation vehicle within prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedule, picking up and discharging students, faculty, and staff at designated locations.
• May assist in loading and unloading of equipment or other transported items from passenger vehicle.
• Provides customer service to passengers.
• Conforms to all transportation policies as established by CCC administration to create a safe environment for all passengers and the reliable and safe operation of all vehicles.
• Adheres to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations governing the operation of passenger vans and buses.
• Maintains logs and reports as required.
• Performs routine pre- and post-driving maintenance checks on the vehicle. Reports any issues or faulty devices on the vehicle to administration.
• Maintains cleanliness of the vehicle to ensure safe operating condition.
• Adhere to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
• Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• A valid Illinois Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement (P) required
• Two years of passenger driving experience required
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must possess a safe driving record
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations governing the operation of passenger vans and buses.
• Knowledge of safe driving practices
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment
• Ability and willingness to work irregular schedule on an on-call basis, including nights, weekends, overnight travel, and some holidays
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally as needed
