" Registered Nurse (RN) - Women's Services

Schedule: 2, 12-hour shifts/week, including rotating weekends and holidays

How you'll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

  • Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

  • Records all pertinent data on patient's medical record accurately, clearly and concisely

  • Always assures the safety and privacy of patients

  • Demonstrates accurate interpretation and documentation of fetal monitor tracing

  • Safely & successfully places fetal scalp electrode when need identified and appropriate

  • Demonstrates skills needed to safely and efficiently prepare patient for C-section

  • Demonstrates understanding of physician orders for postpartum patients

  • Identifies changing patient needs and alters nursing care appropriately

  • Verbalizes and demonstrates understanding of epidural anesthesia protocol

  • Demonstrates effectiveness in assisting during vaginal delivery, including vacuum or forceps delivery

  • Assists appropriately with newborn care at delivery

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment

  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for 

Applicants should have a current NV RN license and possess an associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

  • Experience: One year of obstetrical clinical experience preferred

  • Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action

  • American Heart Association Certifications:

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30-days of hire

    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90-days of hire

    • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP-Advanced) within 90-day of hire

  • Additional Certifications:

    • Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certificate (FMC) within 6 months of hire

    • Required for Charge Nurses only Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM) within 1 year of hire or transfer into charge position. In the event that the employee holds an instructor certification, the instructor certification is allowed.

    • STABLE course to be completed within 90-days of hire, and maintained thereafter
