Job Description:
Bi-Cultural Hebrew Academy is seeking a compassionate and reliable Part-Time Registered Nurse to support the health and well-being of students in a PK-12th grade school setting. As a valued member of our school community, the School Nurse will provide daily health services, promote wellness, and ensure a safe learning environment for all students.
About the Role:
The School Nurse will work on Wednesday 8 am to 3:45 pm and Friday 8 am to 1:15 pm, providing first aid, illness assessment, and emergency care to approximately 400 students. Responsibilities will also include administering medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school policies, managing student health records, and developing individual healthcare plans and emergency action plans.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide first aid, illness assessment, and emergency care to students and staff
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school policies
• Manage student health records and maintain accurate documentation
• Develop and implement individual healthcare plans and emergency action plans
• Communicate with parents/guardians, school staff, and healthcare providers regarding student health needs
• Support students with chronic conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, and allergies
• Participate in health screenings and promote health education as needed
• Ensure compliance with state health regulations and school district policies
Qualifications:
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Connecticut
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification
• 2-4 years experience in pediatrics, school nursing, or community health preferred
• Experience in diabetes management required
• Technology proficient; experience with SNAP preferred
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions
• Commitment to maintaining student confidentiality
