DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION 
  
  1. Administer and monitor the effects of medications via the intravenous/analgesia, intracardiac, intramuscular, subcutaneous topical and oral routes during special procedures as ordered by a physician.  
  2. Monitor patient's vital signs. Administer oxygen therapy as ordered by physician. Conduct hemodynamic monitoring as indicated by procedure and policy. Assist in the collection of arterial and venous blood samples and respiratory gases. Attend to patient needs during cardiac studies. Defibrillation of life-threatening arrhythmias without direct medical supervision. Implement emergency procedures including CPR and defibrillation of life-threatening arrhythmias. Obtain and record hemodynamic, electrical, and angiographic data by operating hemodynamic and electrical amplifiers and digital and line fluoroscopic equipment.  
  3. Develop and contribute to a plan of nursing for the patient's care. 
  4. Monitor physiological conditions of patients and give timely notification to physician regarding changes in patient status.  
  5. Prepare patient and equipment for catheterization procedures by preparing site of entry, draping patient, arranging sterilized instruments and catheters, and calibrating and setting-up pressure transducers and tubing.  
  6. Assist in general endoscopy and fluoroscopy procedures.  
  7. Transport and aid in transfer of patients.  
  8. May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  1. Two (2) years of cardiovascular inpatient, acute-care, or invasive procedure RN experience.  

  2. Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
