Signature Healthcare’s Brockton Hospital is hiring a Part-Time Flex Overnights Registered Nurse (RN) for Emergency Room in Brockton, MA.

Emergency Department 

Brockton Hospital's Emergency Department is a pivotal service catering to patients of all ages and medical conditions, including trauma and mental health cases. While not a designated trauma center, we ensure access to tertiary care when necessary. Our recently renovated ED features a 12-bed enclosed behavioral health unit, showcasing our commitment to comprehensive patient care. Under the guidance of a Charge nurse, our team emphasizes efficient throughput, flexibility, and autonomy in initiating patient care. With a mix of RNs, techs, secretarial, and patient observation assistants, our collaborative approach ensures high-quality care, supported by recent additions of paramedics and LPNs. 

Registered Nurse (RN) Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assessment: collects relevant patient health data (age-specific pertinent to specialty area).
  • Diagnosis: analyzes the assessment data in determining nursing diagnoses.
  • Outcome identification: identifies individualized, expected outcomes for patient.
  • Planning/Implementation: develops and implements Plan of Care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Evaluation: evaluates and documents the patient’s progress toward attaining expected outcomes in the patient medical record.
  • Provide nursing care to assigned patients.
  • Administers prescribed medication and intravenous solutions in a safe manner.
  • Reports significant alterations in patient’s condition to physician.
  • Counsels, educate, and includes patients and their families in accordance with the overall plan of care.
  • Assists patient and family in coping with stress accompanying illness; offering solace and support to the dying.
  • Quality of Care: systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
  • Individual Practice Evaluation:  reflects knowledge of current professional practice standards, laws, regulations, and changes in health care delivery, in daily practice.
  • Education:  acquires and maintains current knowledge and competency in the care of patients.
  • Collegiality:  interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and other healthcare providers as colleagues.
  • Ethics:  decisions and actions on behalf of patients are determined in an ethical manner.
  • Collaboration:  collaborates with the team, consisting of patient, family, and healthcare providers, in providing patient care in a healing, humane, and caring environment.
  • Research:  uses clinical inquiry in practice
  • Resource Utilization:  considers factors related to safety, effectiveness and cost in planning and delivering patient care.

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. 
  • Current Licensure issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Registered Nurse. 
  • ACLS, PALS & BLS certifications.
  • Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department nursing experience required

Preferred

  • Software/Hardware: Meditech experience preferred.
