Part-Time Pediatric ARNP/APRN

Potential to Transition to Full-Time

Windermere Pediatrics is seeking an experienced, dependable, and flexible Pediatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (ARNP/APRN) to join our independent pediatric practice.

This position will begin as part-time, with the possibility of transitioning into a full-time role based on performance, patient volume, availability, and the needs of the practice. The provider must have an open and flexible schedule and be willing to provide additional coverage when another provider is out due to vacation, illness, emergencies, or other scheduling needs.

This is not an entry-level position. Applicants must have previous clinical experience treating infants, children, and adolescents in a pediatric or closely related setting.

Schedule Requirements

• Part-time schedule with the possibility of additional hours
• Must have flexible weekday availability
• Must be willing and reasonably available to fill in for other providers as needed
• Must be available to work scheduled 1-2 Saturday half-days from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
• Must be dependable and able to arrive on time for all scheduled shifts
• Must communicate scheduling conflicts or requested time off in advance
• Must be genuinely interested in the possibility of transitioning to full-time employment

Applicants seeking only a fixed schedule with no ability to provide occasional additional coverage may not be a good fit for this position.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to infants, children, and adolescents
• Perform well-child examinations and developmental assessments
• Diagnose and treat common pediatric illnesses and injuries
• Evaluate acute and same-day sick visits
• Develop appropriate treatment plans and provide follow-up care
• Order and interpret laboratory testing, imaging, and other diagnostic studies
• Prescribe medications within the provider’s legal scope of practice
• Review immunization histories and identify vaccines that are due
• Counsel parents and guardians regarding vaccines, development, nutrition, medications, treatment plans, and preventive care
• Recognize when a patient requires referral, emergency evaluation, or a higher level of care
• Manage common chronic pediatric conditions and coordinate specialty care when appropriate
• Accurately and thoroughly document all visits in the electronic health record
• Complete charts, orders, referrals, prescription requests, and patient messages promptly
• Review laboratory and diagnostic results and communicate appropriate follow-up instructions
• Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, front-office employees, and other team members
• Follow all clinical protocols, patient-safety procedures, HIPAA requirements, and office policies
• Help maintain an efficient patient flow while still providing attentive, compassionate care
• Assist with provider coverage during vacations, call-outs, and other staffing needs

Required Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted Florida APRN license
• Current national certification as a nurse practitioner
• Previous hands-on experience providing pediatric patient care
• Strong knowledge of pediatric well visits, sick visits, developmental milestones, immunizations, medication dosing, and common childhood conditions
• Current BLS certification
• Ability to obtain or maintain any additional credentials required for the position
• Strong pediatric assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Ability to safely evaluate patients independently while knowing when physician consultation is necessary
• Excellent documentation, communication, and time-management skills
• Professional and compassionate communication with children, parents, and guardians
• Dependable attendance and reliable transportation
• Comfortable working in a busy independent pediatric office
• Ability to work scheduled Saturday half-days and provide occasional additional coverage

Preferred Qualifications

• Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification
• At least one year of recent pediatric outpatient or primary-care experience
• Experience working in a private pediatric practice
• Experience with pediatric immunization schedules and vaccine counseling
• Experience managing both well-child and acute sick visits
• Experience with electronic health records and electronic prescribing
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills are helpful but not required
