The Research Technician IV will be responsible for the design and implementation of major experimental projects essential to the laboratory's scientific research goals. This role will develop an extensive and specialized knowledge of the scientific principles, concepts and technology related to the laboratory's research. The Research Technician IV will evaluate the effectiveness of specific methods and procedures for particular projects and prepare scientific papers and presentations.

Responsibilities

Primary/Essential Duties:

  • Is independently responsible and accountable for design and implementation of a major project related to the research goals of the lab.
  • Maintains communication with others in the scientific community regarding issues related to both the general project area and the specific research project.
  • Utilizes literature reviews, protocols, networking, and prior laboratory experience to determine the most suitable methods and resources to be used in research.
  • Summarizes and writes for publication or presentation the results of research projects, often as co-author or author. Writes and edits reports of research.
  • Is responsible for the daily operation of the laboratory; may lead or supervise other laboratory personnel.

Scope of Responsibility:

  • Works independently with the guidance of Principal Investigator in establishing and accomplishing the goals of the laboratory.
  • Consistently uses a high degree of discretion and judgment in designing and carrying out experiments which support laboratory goals.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8 years of related work experience (or equivalent combination of advanced degree and work experience)
  • Proven ability and knowledge necessary to conduct research independently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in a related scientific field.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $38.69 to $58.02 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
