Part Time Research Assistant Jobs in Texas (NOW HIRING)

Description

We're seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Laboratory Assistant (Part-Time) to support research investigating the fundamental molecular mechanisms of Ebola and Marburg virus replication and the development of new antivirals. This position combines hands-on laboratory work, maintaining laboratory supplies and equipment, preparing reagents, managing inventory and documentation, coordinating routine administrative tasks, and supporting research activities. 

This is a part-time position scheduled for 20 hours per week.

JOB DUTIES: 

Responsibilities include supporting research on virus-host interactions and antiviral development as well as providing basic lab maintenance support as outlined below: 

Assist in the isolation of human cells. 

Perform routine laboratory techniques appropriate to experience level, which may include cell culture, microscopy, and Western blotting. 

Maintain accurate research and laboratory records. 

Prepare culture media and chemical solutions. 

Assist with inventory management, restocking supplies, and organizing laboratory materials. 

Clean and maintain laboratory equipment such as slides and glassware. 

Operate and empty autoclaves, sterilizers, and other laboratory equipment during routine laboratory maintenance work. 

Attend and present at laboratory meetings. 

Perform other related duties as assigned.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE: 

Education: Required Bachelor's degree (B.Sc.) in biological/health sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong organizational skills. 

Self-motivated with excellent communication skills. 

Research Skills: Preferred experience in mammalian cell culture. 

Software Proficiency: Microsoft Office.

POTENTIAL HAZARDS:

Working with human samples.

Safety training, equipment, clothing and supplies will be provided when required.  Requires successful completion of a background check.
