What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time remote freight broker?

To thrive as a Part Time Remote Freight Broker, you need strong negotiation, sales, and logistics knowledge, typically supported by experience in transportation or a related field. Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS), load boards, and, in some cases, a freight broker license or certification is important. Excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to build client relationships help you stand out in this role. These skills ensure efficient freight matching, smooth coordination between shippers and carriers, and sustained business growth in a remote environment.

What are some common challenges faced by part time remote freight brokers, and how can they be effectively managed?

Part-time remote freight brokers often face challenges such as time management, maintaining clear communication with carriers and shippers, and staying updated on industry regulations. Since the role is remote and part-time, balancing multiple clients and quickly responding to urgent requests can be demanding. Utilizing digital tools for scheduling, keeping organized records, and establishing regular check-ins with clients can help address these challenges. Strong self-discipline and proactive communication are key to building trust and ensuring smooth logistics operations.

What is a part time remote freight broker?

A Part Time Remote Freight Broker is a professional who arranges transportation between shippers and carriers while working remotely and on a part-time schedule. They act as intermediaries, helping companies find reliable carriers to move goods efficiently, while negotiating rates and handling logistics paperwork. Working remotely allows them flexibility in location, and part-time status means they typically work fewer hours than a full-time broker. This role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and knowledge of the freight industry.

We offer a competitive pay range of $27.07 to $33.85 per hour, medical benefits starting on day one, and you'll also receive a company-matched 401(k). Compensation may vary based on experience, location, and other job-related factors.

Availability during normal business hours is expected to ensure timely communication with clients, agents, and transaction partners. The Transaction Coordinator will manage approximately 20 to 30 residential closings per month, maintaining exceptional service standards and ensuring that every file meets brokerage and regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Obtain required signatures on contracts, disclosures, amendments, and closing documents.
  • Prepare transaction files for brokerage compliance review and ensure all required documentation is complete before closing.
  • Coordinate MLS status updates with the listing agent as transactions progress.
  • Prepare and organize closing documentation and ensure complete post-closing file retention.
  • Provide proactive transaction updates to all parties throughout the transaction process.
  • Identify and resolve transaction issues before they become problems.
